Let’s get
this started!
Me!!!
Alrighty
then, get the boring simple stuff out of the way first.
- Name - Matthew Beattie
- Age - 22
- Occupation - IT Admin
- Hobby’s - Gaming, Programming, Socialising, Coffee and Traveling
- Right To Do This - Because I can
Okie
dokie that was easy. So don’t know how to get much deeper than that about
myself, so moving on to my venture and why the hell I’m doing this.
The
Venture!
Basically I was sitting in work
one day, drinking coffee as all good IT Admins do, and I started to think of
how shit it tasted (Not too sure if I can be sued so let’s call it 'Mescafe
NotOriginal' coffee). I honestly don’t know how I’ve drank it for this
long. It left such a rotten bitter dry taste in my mouth and it would last for
hours (Probably didn’t help that I drink loads of coffee, but that’s not here
nor there).
Anywhos back on topic, I thought it would be a good idea then to
buy some sort of filter coffee making device, in which I can make proper fresh
smooth coffee. This led me on a quest searching through the endless piles of
shit on the web, and the amount of crappy stuff you can buy!
After a couple of
days of searching and reading many upon many reviews, I had finally found it, the
device I would use to enlighten my coffee senses, the Impress Coffee Brewer (or
ICB ... I’m lazy).
Now
before I continue onto what I’m going to be doing let me just say, I will be
creating another post before the end of today containing the ICB and what I thought on it (basically
giving my review of the ICB in Beans (Yes Beans!)).
My Idea!
Well
this is simple, I plan to document all the coffee I buy and drink, and the tools
I use to accomplish this. There not too much reading.
I should
probably try and explain this further for the interested people?
I will be
reviewing the equipment I use giving my opinion and the pros and cons that I
can see then finishing up giving it a bean rating out of 5 (YES BEAN RATING!).

| BEANS!!!! |
I will be
using a similar system for reviewing the coffee. I will do the hard work of
brewing it and drinking it just so all of you can get an idea of the quality of
that coffee (The sacrifices I make!). The rating system for the coffee will
also use BEANS! Although there will be 3 tiers of rating all out of 5 for the coffee.
The first
rating will be on the Bitterness of the coffee, coffee should not have a
strong bitter taste, and should not leave you with a horrible after taste
filling your mouth, and this all comes from the bitterness of the coffee.
The
second will be on the Richness of the coffee, coffee should have a rich
fulfilling flavour to it which is smooth yet tasteful to the tongue. Coffee
that you can taste the layers in it, the chocolate, earthy, nutty taste that
most coffee resembles, comes from the richness of the bean.
The third
will be on the Aroma of the coffee, that smell that you get when you
open the bag containing the whole beans/ground beans is as much a factor of how
you will enjoy your coffee as the richness or the bitterness. The aroma when
you add the hot water into the coffee and the remaining aroma that lingers
while drinking, all play a factor.
These
three factors will be taken into account and rated with so many beans out of 5
depending on my opinion. The great thing about this venture is I’m
not biased in any way because I just want to find the best and most enjoyable
coffee, just while documenting it along the way. So good news for all you
people out there who actually want a non-commercial funded review on a product.
I’m going to give it to you!
